Liz,
Not the biggest fan of how the female characters are written but the emotion behind this world is real。
Ana,
I just hated the portrayal of women on this particular volume。 They are weak and want to be protected。 They are rivals。 The writer even managed to ruin Michonne。 Argh! This is where the series does better than the GN。 Using the end of the world as an excuse to write poorly developed female characters is BS。
Lucas Kandia,
Very interesting to be reading the book after watching the series。 The slight changes to the plot, the introduction of Michone, Carole's emergence as a character。 As captivating as the series。 Very interesting to be reading the book after watching the series。 The slight changes to the plot, the introduction of Michone, Carole's emergence as a character。 As captivating as the series。 。。。more

Leighane,
Not a single woman in the committee? not one? and none of them wanted to join? Seems a shame for it to have been written like that, and for how the women were portrayed overall in this one, when all the majority of the men were doing were being drunk on power horn dogs。 The end speech was good though

At the moment, I feel like this series is losing its way a bit。 This wasn't the strongest installment。 There was extreme swings between violence and sex, and some of the storylines seemed a bit unnesercsry and out of the blue。 Then again, being a comic, I understand there isn't a lot of space for character development, but there's definitely potential for more emotional exploration。 The art, however, is fantastic。 The realism draws you in, and it is not difficult to believe how traumatic and har At the moment, I feel like this series is losing its way a bit。 This wasn't the strongest installment。 There was extreme swings between violence and sex, and some of the storylines seemed a bit unnesercsry and out of the blue。 Then again, being a comic, I understand there isn't a lot of space for character development, but there's definitely potential for more emotional exploration。 The art, however, is fantastic。 The realism draws you in, and it is not difficult to believe how traumatic and harrowing the lives of the characters are。 I'm looking forward to the art in the next volume, and I'm hoping that the storyline is going to improve beyond sex and violence, and develop the characters emotions。 。。。more

Really getting deeper and digging into the despair of the characters and how this makes them react。 For some it's craving others, for some it's violence, others it's just giving up。 I've had the displeasure of dealing with a group of people trying to deal with true despair once in my life and it was awful and you see people reacting in different ways, though they are/were constrained by societal norms which are not present in the Walking Dead world。There's only ever so much you can put across in Really getting deeper and digging into the despair of the characters and how this makes them react。 For some it's craving others, for some it's violence, others it's just giving up。 I've had the displeasure of dealing with a group of people trying to deal with true despair once in my life and it was awful and you see people reacting in different ways, though they are/were constrained by societal norms which are not present in the Walking Dead world。There's only ever so much you can put across in word bubbles, you cannot go as deep as a novel, but the authors really do well at displaying how characters are trying (and some failing) at dealing with this。 People also forget because it's "only" been 4 volumes how can they be changing/reacting so strongly。 These 4 volumes equate to a year of story, imagine how people would change without a year of society? The end panel was great。 。。。more

Kim,
The art work is just outstanding and the amount of detail in each image is crazy。 I love the character driven story, the people seem so real and like with most things you have characters you like and dislike more than others。 I find the images and words easy to follow and understand what's going on and you can distinguish who's who quite easily。 The art work is just outstanding and the amount of detail in each image is crazy。 I love the character driven story, the people seem so real and like with most things you have characters you like and dislike more than others。 I find the images and words easy to follow and understand what's going on and you can distinguish who's who quite easily。 。。。more

I will not be rating this graphic novel due to the use of the N-word and R-word。 I do not feel comfortable。 I love this series, but this kind of language makes me very uncomfortable and is not justified in my opinion。

Lou-ann,
this one reaaaally wasn’t my favourite。 if you enjoy people doing the nasty, characters being evil for no reason and Rick being an annoying little bitch, this volume’s for you。
Regina Froland,

Irene,
Things are getting pretty repetitive and rick has some serious issues and i dont exactly understand if im supposed to be sympathetic to that。

Robert Kirkman dropped the ball hard on this volume, and I don't think this series is going to recover my interest easily。 The next volume needs to hold back on the melodrama and over-the-top behavior of the cast before I decide to fully abort this series。 。。。more

Jesus christ。 Can the portrayal of women in these series get any worse? I smelled it in the first volume when basic consideration was called "womens rights。" Also, the whole dialogue during the Rick and Tyreese fight was so fucking awful。 This book was costing just a little over 3 stars and that whole shitty exposition/revelation brought it down to 2 stars。 Jesus christ。 Can the portrayal of women in these series get any worse? TW: use of the r slur, pretty in your face racismSo yeah maybe not my favourite。 The women are always poorly written, most specifically in this volume, and it's starting to get on my nerves the almost gross focus on the sexual relationships between the characters, more often than not with the people who aren't their partner。 I understand that the characters are going through a lot but it's just not。。。 nice to read?
